Are You Backed Up?

There are few things that are as emotionally and financially damaging as losing the data from your device. From your personal family photos to your business accounts', the information stored on your computer is precious. This is why we always strongly suggest customers have a back up of their documents and files.

There are many causes for data loss, often completely out of your control. One of the most common is when a computer crashes, often when you least need it! A computer crash can wipe the documents you are currently working on and ones you have saved.

Computers / laptops do not have an infinite lifespan. One of the most common causes of a computer death is the failure of a hard drive (any laptop over 2 years old we would highly recommend you move over to an SSD drive, get in touch today for more information). When your hard drives fails it is very difficult and costly to retrieve your data.

Another cause of data loss is virus infections which corrupt your files and make them impossible to access. There are many ways in which your computer can be protected from viruses (check out our internet security packages). However if you are not protected and a virus manages to infect your computer it can completely destroy your current data.

Theft and physical damage can be the most frustrating ways of losing your data, as without the physical device retrieving the data is impossible. Laptops are a particularly common target for thieves as they are movable and difficult to keep secure.
